If you’r going commando make sure your trunks fit well both then wet and dry. Another risk is if your board shorts are of lighter material and in a brighter color. This might make them a little see-through when wet. If this is the case and they are a tighter fit it will leave very little to the imagination once you get up from the water. Also, your cotton boxers are not made for water. They’ll get soaked and lose their comfort quickly and while swim shorts are made for the pool and ocean your boxers are not. The salt and chlorine in the water will take its toll on them. The waistband will lost its flexibility and they’ll most likely lose some color. So be careful if you’re using your favorite pair. Another thing to keep in mind when wearing boxers under board shorts is the dry time. Your swim shorts might be made of quick dry material but your boxers most certainly isn’t. They will take hours to dry and you’ll go wet until it’s time to get back in the water.The comfort of wearing boxers underneath is obviously a huge positive. Wear compression shorts under board shorts Another option to wear under your board shorts is compression shorts. These shorts are really for working out and have several benefits in this area. But they also work well as underwear for board shorts. Compression shorts fits tight on your legs and are often longer than usual underwear. The main advantage of using them are that they add a lot of comfort compared to wearing nothing at all and they dries faster than your cotton boxers.
